Client name: Bombardier
Location : Wakefield
Type of installation : Train Maintenance
Required spec:
Air quality sensors
Free summer cooling
Oil fired AHU
Temporary structure
Details:
Working very closely with the M&E contractor, Gradwood, JET developed an effective solution to meet the very specific requirements of Bomardier’s train commission sheds at Crofton in Wakefield. The sheds, which are only temporary, have the added difficulties of an inflatable roof and sunken maintenance pits for access to the underside of trains.
JET developed a stand alone system with its own controls that could be dismantled and reconstructed when the building moved. An oil fired air handling unit was located outside to maximise the internal operational space. The building is continuously monitored for air quality with the system purging exhaust fumes and providing free summer cooling.
The success of phase 1 resulted in JET being uniquely specified for phase 2 which required the integration of the first facility with the second commissioning facility.
